Buying guide

Custom vs off-the-shelf 4WD drawers

An off-the-shelf kit is built to fit as many vehicles as possible, which means it truly fits none of them. Gaps down the sides, wasted height, and a shape that ignores your wheel arches. A custom system is measured off your actual vehicle, so it uses every millimetre you paid for.

The second difference is how you pack. A kit decides your layout; a custom build starts with what you actually carry, whether that is recovery gear and a fridge or pipe, fittings and power tools. We design the drawers around the gear, not the other way around.

The third difference is the finish. Our builds are carpet-finished with heavy-duty runners and everything locks down, so the whole system travels quiet and looks factory. And when you sell the vehicle, the system comes out without a trace.

Common questions

Is custom much more expensive than a kit?

Less than most people expect. Our builds start at $1,600 including GST, which sits alongside the big-brand kits while being made for your exact vehicle.

How do I get a design for my vehicle?

Use the quote form and tell us your vehicle and how you use it. We come back the same day with a plan and a firm price, and you are welcome to visit the Wangara workshop and see builds in person.

Can the system come out later?

Yes. Builds are installed without butchering the vehicle, so the system can be removed cleanly if you sell or upgrade.
